Vygotsky Child-Parent Consulting and Learning Center conducted a meaningful Parenting Session on “Growing Together – The Parent’s Role in Shaping Early Childhood” at Sano Paila Montessori, Shantinagar, Kathmandu, Nepal on 3 Oct, 2026, facilitated by Ms. Priyanka Chaguthi, Parenting Coach, Early Years Educator, Teacher's Trainer, and Founder of Vygotsky Nepal.
The session focused on helping parents understand the important role they play in shaping their child's early development, emotional well-being, behaviour, learning, relationships, and overall growth. It highlighted how the everyday experiences children have with their parents and caregivers can influence the way they understand themselves, others, and the world around them.
Early childhood is a foundational period of development. During these years, children learn not only through formal education but also through their everyday interactions, relationships, routines, conversations, and experiences at home.
The session encouraged parents to look beyond academic achievement and recognise the importance of emotional connection, responsive communication, play, encouragement, boundaries, and a supportive home environment in a child's development.
Parents were encouraged to reflect on how their own responses, expectations, communication styles, and everyday interactions can contribute to their child's development.
The session explored practical aspects of parenting and early childhood development, including:
Understanding the importance of early childhood experiences
Exploring the parent's role in a child's overall development
Supporting children's emotional and social development
Building secure and meaningful parent-child relationships
Understanding children's developmental needs
Communicating with children in ways they can understand
Encouraging independence and confidence
Creating a supportive and emotionally safe home environment
Using everyday moments as opportunities for learning
Balancing guidance, boundaries, and connection
Supporting children's curiosity, exploration, and learning
Growing alongside children through mindful and responsive parenting
Children's development does not happen in isolation. Parents and caregivers are among the most important influences in a child's early years.
Small everyday moments—listening to a child, answering their questions, playing together, acknowledging their feelings, allowing them to try independently, or simply being emotionally present—can become meaningful learning experiences.
The session highlighted that parenting is not about being perfect. It is about being present, responsive, consistent, and willing to learn and grow alongside the child.
When parents understand their children's developmental needs, they can provide support that is more appropriate, meaningful, and nurturing.
The idea of “growing together” recognises that early childhood is a journey not only for the child but also for the parent.
As children grow and develop, parents also learn to adapt, understand, communicate, guide, and respond to their changing needs. Building a strong relationship during these early years can provide children with a sense of security and confidence as they explore their surroundings and develop their own identities.
The session encouraged parents to focus on connection before correction, understanding before judgement, and guidance alongside independence.
The parenting session provided parents with an opportunity to learn, reflect, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discussions around early childhood development and parenting.
Through practical insights and reflection, parents were encouraged to look at their everyday parenting experiences from a developmental perspective and identify ways they can better support their children's emotional, social, cognitive, and overall development.
Such parenting sessions can help create stronger collaboration between parents, educators, and schools, ensuring that children receive consistent support across both home and learning environments.

The parenting session at Sano Paila Montessori was an opportunity for parents to pause, reflect, and recognise the powerful role they play during their child's early years.
Early childhood is filled with moments that shape how children learn, communicate, build relationships, manage emotions, and understand themselves. By becoming more aware and responsive in these everyday moments, parents can help create a strong foundation for their children's future.
When children grow, parents grow too. And when parents and children grow together, they build stronger connections, stronger foundations, and stronger futures.
